Usually, new equipment comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of at least one year, while our Certified Used equipment is supported by a three-month warranty.

This ‘Certified Used’ equipment is usually less than two-and-a-half years old, has been completely refurbished, and is supported by a three-month parts-and-labour warranty.

This means it’s safer than buying used restaurant equipment advertised by a private seller or at an auction.

Where can I find the equipment that SilverChef finances? 

There are two main paths you can go down to find the commercial kitchen equipment that we finance:

  • equipment-dealer showrooms and websites — we have established partnerships with dozens of dealers across the country. They can assist you in not only choosing the equipment, but also applying for SilverChef finance.
  • SilverChef website — our online collection of new and second-hand commercial kitchen equipment is one of New Zealand’s largest; the new equipment can be financed, while the second-hand equipment can be financed or purchased outright. Find equipment  

Does SilverChef sell restaurant catering equipment? 

We sell ‘Certified Used’ restaurant catering equipment (which customers can also finance through us).

Though we don’t sell new commercial kitchen equipment, we can source it via a constellation of dozens of dealers countrywide, finance it for you, and make sure it’s quickly dispatched to your address.

Which types of professional kitchen equipment can I get finance for?

We’ll finance virtually any type of professional kitchen equipment that helps your business generate revenue.

The equipment must have an invoice value of $1,000 or more (Rent–Try–Buy) or $10,000 or more (Lease-to-Keep). 

Do you finance used equipment? 

Yes — we can offer financing for our own range of fully refurbished equipment, known as ‘Certified Used.’

This equipment mainly consists of ex-rental items that have been stripped, cleaned, and serviced before being rigorously tested.

So confident are we in the quality of our Certified Used equipment, we warrant it for three months.

You can buy this second-hand commercial kitchen equipment from SilverChef or finance it through us.

Do you accept trade-ins? 

If you finance new equipment through SilverChef, we’ll think about paying you cash for any old equipment you want to get rid of (i.e. a trade-in).

Or, if your business is experiencing a cash-flow crunch and you need an injection of cash to ease the pressure, we’re open to buying any equipment you’ve recently bought.

We’ll pay you a chunk of cash for the equipment — which you can pour into your business — and then rent the equipment back to you for cash flow-friendly weekly amounts under a 12-month Rent–Try–Buy agreement.

What happens if the equipment breaks down? 

If your equipment breaks down while it’s still under warranty, call us on 0800 453 010.

We’ll help you organise a complimentary repair, replacement, or refund from the manufacturer (new equipment) or us (Certified Used equipment).

Once the warranty lapses, you’ll be responsible for covering any equipment-repair costs.

If your equipment breaks down after its warranty has expired, rest assured we can help you quickly find a repairer or replace your equipment in as little as a day.
